We know it can be a real chore to pack your suitcase for a trip, and the urge to pack everything for every event or possibility is rather tempting, but the reality is you don't need all of that. Luggage can often be limited, but here at Aircoach we accommodate 20kg per person, plus a carry-on case on board.
So, take a deep breath and leave the packing for now and read our top tips on how to pack your suitcase for a stress-free process.
Think about each day of your holiday, will you be visiting the beach or going on long walks and excursions? Pick an outfit for each day of your holiday, and don't go beyond that. You don't need ten pairs of shoes for a three-day break. Packing just the essentials and planning will prevent you from overpacking.
Extra top tip: always place the clothes you'll wear first at the top of your suitcase! This could be a bathing suit if you fancy jumping straight into the pool, or head to the beach. It's also a good idea to check the weather for your holiday destination, as this will give you an indication of how warm/cold it'll be, which will help you dress appropriately for the climate.
You'll more than likely be packing some form of shoes in your case, and these can be a great way to squeeze a few extra pounds in. How may you ask? Well, consider rolling and stuffing some extras in your shoes such as socks, or underwear to free up a little more space.
When packing your items, try and fold and roll them so you have more space for other necessities. Try and avoid clothing that will not crease easily, such as cotton or knits (if you're going somewhere cold) that way you can save on ironing!
Extra top tip: You can also use your clothing as padding for any fragile items you pack.
Your shoes can take up the most space in your suitcase, so try and limit the pairs you bring. Try and take versatile footwear that you can use for other days rather than just for one occasion. Flip flops are great for beach holidays, and they fold down very easily. If you like long walks, try and pack a light pair of trainers, such as running trainers as they'll free up much more space.
When thinking of toiletries, travel size is key. There's no need to bring a full-sized bottle of shampoo when you'll only end up using it once or twice. You can even pick up great deals and offers when buying a range of travel sized toiletries.
For those who wear makeup on holiday, a tinted moisturiser can be a handy way to limit the amount of makeup you need. It can double-up to offer hydration and give you a little coverage too.
And for those book lovers, think about switching to an e-reader, as it allows you to store hundreds of books on one device - leaving you with more luggage space.
Extra tip: Group your travel items together in a resealable bag so there's no leaks, and everything will be much easier to locate.
May sound like an obvious one, but it's surprising how adding a few extra items in before you leave can really increase the weight. Once you have weighed your suitcase and are within the limit (20kg for Aircoach bookings) leave it be, zip it up and don't be tempted to add anything else in.
